BLUES ON THE NORTH SHORE FESTIVAL
ONCE IN A LIFETIME CONCERT OPPORTUNITY –
6 GENERATIONS OF MISSISSIPPI & CHICAGO BLUES GIANTS
8 pm Friday, June 12, 2009, SPACE 1245 Chicago Avenue, Evanston
THE SECOND ANNUAL BLUES ON THEÂ NORTH SHOREÂ www.bluesonthenorthshore.com
THE MISSISSIPPI DELTAÂ TOÂ CHICAGOÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Â
The Blues are coming to the North Shore. Some of the best loved Blues artists in the world will be right here in your own backyard. They appear on main stages of blues festivals all over the world. But on June 12, 2009, the blues fun begins and ends at SPACE in Evanston. Â
  Â
Orman Music & Media Group and Listen to This! Music Chicago present the second annual Blues on the North Shore, in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Earwig Music Company.  Â
On Friday, June 12, 2009, SPACE in Evanston, will showcase the best of the Mississippi Delta Bluesmen – never before on one stage – a historic lineup of six generations of distinguished blues musicians in a unique and intimate space. The audience will be up close and personal with 93-year-old Grammy Award Winner, guitarist David “Honeyboy†Edwards, John Primer – the last lead guitarist in the Muddy Waters Blues Band, Dennis Binder – a classic keyboardist who recorded in the early 1950s, at the cusp of blues melding r&b and country, and Big Jack Johnson and the Oilers - the quintessential electric Delta Blues trio.Â
Â
The Blue Four is the younger group of Chicago blues players who complete the Chicago connection. The band includes the ubiquitous Kenny Smith on drums, hard driving Chris James on guitar and rock steady Patrick Rynn on bass, and Bob Corritore blowing harmonica. Special guest, the formidable keyboard player Allen Batts, will round out this dynamic combo.Â
Â
An added attraction will be guest appearances by Earwig artists Aron Burton and Johnny Drummer.
Â
Our host for the evening will be Bill Wax, Program Director and host of BB King’s Bluesville on Sirius/XM satellite radio. Dave Specter, one of the owners of SPACE, and himself an amazing blues guitarist said of last year’s event, “This was a great night. The best blues in Chicago right here in Evanston. And it was very clear that the packed house was fully enjoying themselves. It was great to see so many local, national and international blues musicians and fans came out to last year’s event.  We’re very glad Blues on the North Shore is back this year.â€Â
  Â
Listen to This! Music Chicago will immerse you in the Blues. Blues enthusiasts who don’t want the hassle of driving downtown can ride the Blues Bus hosted by Earwig President Michael Frank and radio personality Irene Mojica. The Blues Bus Day trip & concert at SPACE is a special package.  The bus pick up is at SPACE in Evanston. From SPACE everyone travels to the first day of the Chicago Blues Festival. There will be BBQ & beverages on the Blues Bus, and some great history and entertainment on the bus to and from the festival! Blues fans will spend the day in Grant Park, listening to blues, and checking out the blues booths. At 6:30PM we leave Grant Park to head back to SPACE for the 2nd Annual Blues on the North Shore Festival.Â

Calgary International Blues Festival lineup announced
BluesWire just got this via the wonderful world of Web 2.0 — it was sent to one of the groups our sister organization, Chicago Blues Tour belongs to on Facebook. It’s an eclectic schedule with a heavy sampling of blues-rock, but also includes veteran Chicago performer Roy Hytower, who made his name portraying Muddy Waters on stage here some years ago. Also our MySpace friends Blue Voodoo, a very tight R&B outfit based out of Vancouver.
